Lucia Frassanito Biography

The artist Lucia Frassanito was born in Cocumola, a fraction of Minervino di Lecce, July 23 in 1964 and currently resides in Lecce.

Passionate about drawing, after high school she attended the Painting Course at “Accademia di Belle Arti” in Lecce, graduating in 1986.

Her previous exhibitions, personal and collective, have been at:

She continues to work in the research and experimentation of new painting and sculpture techniques, creating trompe l'oeil and paintings with different materials, exploring the sculpture in terracotta and papier-mâché, studying in particular portraits.

Simultaneously, she works in primary school as support teacher for blind children.
In 2011, she published the book “Giochiamo con la carta” (Milella editions), in which she collected ideas for making simple paper sculptures with children.

She started working in the field of ceramics and, having worked with blind children in primary school, she decided to make her pictorial images accessible by touch. So, her ceramics creations are accessible to blind people.

For the celebration of the sixth and the seventh edition of "Premio Internazionale Tito Schipa", she realized the first awards given to the tenor William Matteuzzi in 2016 and to Maria Dragoni in 2017.
